Privacy policy

CV Sorted is a trading name of KiesSlim (Pty) Ltd. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here, under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and what you can do.

What we collect

• Your account: your email address and your password. Passwords are stored in a scrambled (hashed) form and we cannot read them.
• Your CV: what you type into the builder: your name, contact details, work history, education, skills, languages, certificates and the country you are applying in.
• Payments: the amount, date, status and PayFast reference of what you paid. Your card or bank details go to PayFast. We never see or store them.
• Technical records: your IP address and the details PayFast sends us when it confirms a payment.
• Campaign tag: if you came from a link with a tag (for example from a video), we keep that tag in your browser and with your order, so we can see which content helps people. It holds no personal details.

Why we use it

• To run your account and build, save and produce your CV.
• To take payment, give you access, and keep the payment records the law requires.
• To email you what you need: account and password messages, and your receipt.
• To email you tips or offers, but only if you have ticked the box to say yes. You can say no at any time.
• To keep the service secure and stop abuse.

We do not sell your information. We do not share your CV with employers or anyone else unless you choose to send it yourself.

Who helps us (operators)

We use these providers to run the service. They may only use your information for us.

• Supabase: database and sign-in. Our project is hosted in Ireland (EU).
• Vercel: hosting and anonymous visit statistics. Based in the United States, with servers around the world.
• Brevo: sending email. Based in France (EU).
• PayFast: taking payments. Based in South Africa.

This means some of your information is processed outside South Africa. Where we do this, we rely on providers that protect it to a standard comparable to POPIA.

Cookies and storage

We use cookies that keep you signed in. They are needed for the site to work. Our visit statistics do not use cookies and do not identify you. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

• Your account and CV: until you delete them from your Account page.
• Payment records: as long as the law requires us to keep them (usually five years). If you delete your account, these records stay, without a link to your sign-in.

Your rights

• See your data: use “Download my data” on your Account page.
• Correct it: edit your CV in the builder, or ask us.
• Delete it: use “Delete my account and CV” on your Account page.
• Object or ask a question: email us.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Keeping it safe

Your information is sent over an encrypted connection and stored with access limited to the people and systems that need it. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.

Children

You need to be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to use this service.
